3 Free Domain Name Tools

The first step to your online presence is choosing an effective domain name that both represents you and your work, that should include one or more keywords indicative of you and your work, and is memorable and somehow “brandable”.

A few helpful domain name search tools include:

http://www.bustaname.com/

http://www.nameboy.com/

http://www.makewords.com/

These tools let you combine keywords and options to generate random combinations with some control, as well as checks for availability of the domain names.

Remember, always best to get .com extension if you can. You can get others in addition, but go for .com first! It’s just the first extension most people try if they can’t remember for sure.

For “Creatives”, my recommendation is to always try to get your own name without any modifiers as a basic choice. Finding relevant additional domain names for secondary projects or blogs is always the next path, but get your own name or some variation that includes it first.
